I’ve been LSSed to these songs lately and I found it really coincidental that it’s actually the love month, so that’s why!! No Really! And it makes me feel good to hear these songs ‘coz they’re easy to the ears and good for the heart!
Maroon 5’s Sugar – Who doesn’t tear up bad in watching ordinary brides and grooms alike touched at the sight of an award-winning band play at their wedding reception? I’ve seen this a million times and I still end up in tears!
Rod Stewart’s Tonight’s the Night (Gonna Be Alright) – I’ve just heard this this morning and even though it’s friday the 13th, I didn’t care because tonight’s the night and it’s gonna be alright!
Starship’s Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now – My Ultimate Favorite! I have dreams singing this on my own wedding reception complete with the guitar solo!
Starship’s We Built This City – heard this yesterday morning after a long time! This is actually on my playlist but I’ve never listened to that playlist in a longtime and hearing it yesterday morning made me feel instantly energized! Not a love song I know, but you gotta love it still!
I am so in love with Catherine and Vincent and they make me fall in love and believe in love again and again despite some unfortunate circumstances in the past. Watching them makes me forget that love hurts. ————>weh!!
Besides the story itself and these actors’ chemistry, I also love the show’s soundtrack.
Every now and then, they feature some really good covers on the show and so far, they haven’t failed in that aspect yet as well. 3 points for BATB!
I remember I was still working in the hospital when the masquerade episode was shown on tv. In that very romantic episode, there was a scene where the two slow danced to the very beautiful cover of “Wherever You Will Go” by Charlene Soraia.
Had my heart exploded that time, I’m guessing I wouldn’t be alive to write this now (nyoinks!) but if it really did, there wouldn’t be pieces left of my heart, everything would just be charred (this analogy isn’t sensible at all, but you get what I mean). I could just watch that scene over and over again and wouldn’t get tired of it until I’m 80 or older!
I remember listening to that song on my way to work and back home ON REPEAT MODE, for weeks!!!! I found it especially helpful on my saddest days because everything around me suddenly became dramatic. That song was company to my misery, even my crossing across the street suddenly felt like MMK-worthy!
Then came 2014, right after Gabe was killed (thank God), which was also the season finale, the lovebirds are back eating each other’s faces again. And while that was happening, another beautiful cover was playing in the background which was very familiar to me, “Latch” by Natalie Taylor.
This is a permanent song on my sister’s shower playlist, (sung originally by Sam Smith of course) the sole reason why I am familiar with the song.
Now, this cover is going to be permanently part of my feel good playlist!
You lift my heart up when the rest of me is down
You, you enchant me even when you’re not around
If there are boundaries, I will try to knock them down
I’m latching on, babe, now I know what I have found

P.S. If I were Jake Ryan’s wife, Kristin would be dead by now! Kidding! These two really know my soft spot! Ganun?
I’ve never seen the movie, “Annie” in my entire existence (loser alert!). We have a VCD copy though that has been sitting on a shelf ever since I could even remember. I think I even have this very vague memory of my father singing a tune or two from the musical, but I just never got to make myself see it. I guess I just have this certain dislike for old movies…………………..**insert cricket sound here**………… Thinking about it now, I could never name a single movie I’ve seen that is in black and white or that is beyond the 90’s era. Alright, head hurts now. I really cannot think of anything. (major loser alert!)
Fortunately, Jay-Z and Will Smith collaborated to produce a really hiphop version of Annie, or so I think! Well it’s got more funk now (not that I’ve seen the old one to compare) but you could tell, since the original Annie was white with ginger hair, the new Annie is African-American, so the music has got to be a little more funky and not to mention, a bit more appealing and appropriate for my taste! Hey, it got me to write about it here and now!
One favorite song in there is of course, “It’s a hard knock Life“! Although I said I’ve never seen it, it doesn’t mean I don’t know a single song from it! Thank goodness my sister used to play this all the time and every time, the song gets trapped in my little head and plays in there for hours.
Although basically “hard knock life” means one that’s so difficult it seems like all the odds never ever got to be in your favor, the melody of the song suggests otherwise. It turns out, it makes you feel good instead of the other way around. So when life knocks you down, why don’t you pop this tune on your player and before you know it, you’re good to go again!
P.S. Can’t wait to see the movie this Christmas! I’m a sucker for big, heartwarming, tearjerker–eerrr —ing, inspirational family flicks!
Speaking of heartwarming, I was listening to this on the way home this afternoon and boy, I gotta tell you, it always makes my heart melt. This is a really talented and creative group and, just like the song above, my sister introduced me to them a few years ago! I just love it soooo much I have never deleted it, ever! Just lovely!
